off a Gold Medal win in the Bradford Blue and Gold Classic, on January
28th, the Tyke MDs played the first place Oakville Rangers.
The game started with back and forth action between the two teams, with excellent chances at both ends. The Sabres had many scoring chances, even open nets, but were unable to capitalize on their opportunities. The first period ended in a deadlock of 0-0, with both teams’ netminders keeping their teams in the game.
The second period started the same with both teams trying to get on the scoreboard. The Rangers ultimately got there first and lodged their first goal in the second period. The Sabres let up and the Rangers capitalized on their chances in the second as they notched their second goal on a goalmouth scramble. Much of the same in the third period, where the Sabres seemed to have lost a step and the Rangers were able to bang in two more for a 4-0 shutout win against the Sabres.
The Tykes meet the Oakville Rangers on February 7 at the Carlisle arena!
