Your U13AA Flamborough Sabres rolled up their sleeves last week and pitched in towards an extremely important cause.
Whether it was going door-to-door to collect donations or using up a portion of their allowance to purchase food, the U13AA Flamborough Sabres accumulated quite a haul. First arriving at the Memorial Hall in Carlisle where they dropped off the team's food donations, the boys formed a chain and filled the Foodbank's truck with already sorted items. Next they headed over to the Carlisle United Church location to unload the truck, sort items and stock the Foodbank shelves.
They were the largest volunteer group that the Foodbank has ever had. Hauling, sorting, boxing, shelving, the boys accomplished a considerable amount during their time there.
The Flamborough Foodbank strives to make good food a priority and ensure the families in our community have consistent access to food support. Prior to COVID, the Foodbank would see an average of 40 families during their shopping day. Now the Foodbank sees an average of 140 families.
